Swiss police men, too, are responsible
for the protection of law and order in Buesingen...
In general, German police is responsible for Buesingen. Concerning certain matters like customs offenses, violations of narcotics law, inspection of restaurants (food law control) etc. however, in accordance with the treaty, Swiss police is responsible. In practice, as a rule, Swiss police conduct an official act accompanied by German police.

Article 31 of the treaty says that the number of Swiss uniformed and armed officials must not exceed 10. In accordance with article 32 the number of German uniformed and armed officials in transit on Swiss territory is limited to 10. The number of law inforcement agents in attendance at the same time must not exceed 3 per 100 inhabitants.

German police is regularly on patrol through Buesingen. They have a room in the town hall where people can come in case of questions, for discussions and meetings at an appointed time. New, since 2004, the police station in Gottmadingen is responsible for Buesingen. The police can be contacted from Monday through Friday non-stop from 7 am to 5.30 pm. The German and the Swiss police interact in a very open and unbureaucratic way and they cooperate well together.
